Ramshead

Ramshead is a small refuge in the mountains. Located in the Thredbo River Valley on a tiny block of land, the house is a base for exploration, skiing, riding and walking.
It provides shelter from the weather and outlook to the ridges.
The roof rises to the North to allow sun deep into the living spaces in winter.
Materials are tough externally and soft internally. Floors are recycled hardwood and granite. Ceilings are birch ply.
The house is sited to preserve the three pre-existing Black Sallee trees on the block, which now overhang the deck to provide a tactile indicator of the seasons through the shedding and regrowth of their bark.
